DOLPHIN BOY

Vertical Variations

HHHHH

Vertical Records VERTCD087, £13.99
An intro from Burns' 'Jolly Beggars' slides into celebrated Edinburgh-based DJ Andy Levy (aka Dolphin Boy)'s warm-hearted recombination of Vertical artists' musical DNA. Fiddler Aidan O'Rourke, vocalists Alyth McCormack, Roisin Elsafty, James Grant, Harem Scarem and pipers Ross Ainslie and Jarlath Henderson are among those getting the low-key, chilled beats applied. Andy Stewart even makes an appearance, but this music is subtle rather than in your face, and if the music may dive deep, it always comes back up to breathe.
