BEYONCÉ KNOWLES

I Am … Sasha Fierce

**

RCA 88697409802, £12.99
Beyoncé wants us to compare and contrast her persona with wild Sasha Fierce on these two very different CDs, the latter specialising in bouncy, girly club tunes such as 'Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)' or the rather dull 'Radio'.

'Halo' is more of an albatross round the neck of radio formatting, and the brazen 'Ave Maria' rips the well-known aria without a twinge of guilt in claiming all the song-writing credits. Sasha Fierce does offer hope of some genuine soul with the slinky 'Sweet Dreams', but both discs are subsumed by the corporate marketing concept that begat them. Even the swervy pervy 'Video Phone' ends up more nasty than naughty.
