Draft of RBS report finished

Early drafts of a detailed report into the collapse of Royal Bank of Scotland are said to be circulating among mandarins ahead of its publication.

The report by the Financial Services Authority is expected to be made public at the end of this year or early in 2012 and will provide details of how the bank ended up having to be rescued by the state in 2008.

Overseen by former banker Sir David Walker and lawyer Bill Knight, the report will draw on interviews with senior figures at RBS during the time leading up to its collapse, and is also expected to look at the FSA’s own role in the fiasco and name senior officials involved.
