Jordanhill School in the west of Glasgow was established in 1920 as a demonstration school for the teacher-training college of the same name.
Originally known as Jordanhill College School, the college relinquished control due to running costs.

Hide AdIn the mid-1980s, controversy raged as the council refused to fund the school. After a high-profile campaign, the Scottish Office agreed to fund the school and it now receives a grant from the Scottish executive.
The school, which accepts pupils from nursery up to S6, regularly tops the exam league tables – well above the performance of Glasgow's council-run secondaries.
