Beaten dad admonished after glassing attacker
Livingston Sheriff Court was told that Edward Campbell managed to bundle his attacker out of the house, but his worried family had called police because they feared for his life as a result of the violent assault.
When officers arrived, Campbell walked out with a glass in his hand and smashed it on the back of his attacker’s head as officers walked towards them.

Hide AdCampbell, 58, of Livingston, West Lothian, was admonished when he appeared for sentencing yesterday after earlier admitting assaulting Paul McMillan on February 4 this year.
Stuart Peebles, defending, said his client had been of good behaviour since sentence was deferred in April.
He added: “I think it’s unlikely that the courts will see this man again.
Sheriff Martin Edington described Campbell’s actions as “inexplicable” but added: “With some hesitation I’m prepared, in the exceptional circumstances of this case, to follow Mr Peebles’ recommendation and admonish you.”
