Comedian Saunders beats breast cancer

COMEDIAN Jennifer Saunders has successfully battled breast cancer, her spokesman confirmed yesterday.

The Absolutely Fabulous actress, 52, has been given the all clear after eight months of treatment.

Mother-of-three Saunders is said to have found a lump in her breast last October, and was diagnosed with cancer within days.

She was apparently given the all-clear after her treatment finished in June, and is described as being in "very good spirits".

Saunders, who is best known for her work with comedy partner Dawn French, was pictured at Wimbledon last week wearing a wig and a bandanna.

She is married to former Young Ones actor and writer Adrian Edmondson.

They have three daughters, Ella, 24, Beatrice, 23, and Freya, who is 19.

About 45,000 women a year are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in the UK. Eight in ten are found in women aged 50 and over.
