Health chiefs hail drop in superbugs
Figures released yesterday showed rates of both MRSA and C.diff, which have plagued wards for so long, continue to fall dramatically.
The 53 MRSA cases in the past six months is a sixth of the number recorded in the previous half year, while C.diff numbers also look favourable.

Hide AdNHS Lothian bosses have worked hard to reduce infections with a range of projects, including an ultra-strict policy towards hand washing.
Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon said: “There is no room for complacency in the battle against healthcare-associated infections and we are determined to sustain the gains achieved to date, bring the number down and increase public confidence in the NHS.
“We have invested more than £50 million over the past three years to tackle healthcare- associated infections.”
