Man injured in flat blaze

A MAN was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation and possible burns after a flat fire in Whitburn.

The fire broke out in a first floor flat on Loch Trool Way at around 4.30pm yesterday.

The man received first aid and oxygen therapy at the scene before being transported to St John's Hospital in Livingston.

Three fire appliances from Whitburn, Bathgate and Livingston attended the scene. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a high pressure hose reel to extinguish the blaze.

Firefighters also tackled a blaze at Tranent Junior Football Club around an hour later.

The fire broke out in the derelict building on Lindores Drive at around 5.30pm.
