Man vowed to ‘cut up’ mechanic
Steven Monnelly, 33, admitted the threats at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday and was ordered to pay £200.
Depute fiscal Iain Batho said Monnelly, from Niddrie, had phoned John Martin Group Accident Repair Centre in Bonnyrigg in February to complain about work carried out on his vehicle.

When Monnelly, who was recently laid off from his £50,000-a-year job, saw the work, he “lost control”.
Mr Batho said: “He said he knew the man’s name and he knew where he lived and he was going to his house to cut him up if the problem was not sorted out.”
His solicitor Gail Addison said the remarks were only made in anger, but had been of the opinion the vehicle had not been properly repaired.
