Murder victim's daughter pays tribute to 'my greatest friend'

A RETIRED midwife who was found murdered at her home was a "wonderful" mother who "touched many, many people's lives", her daughter told mourners at her funeral yesterday.

Ann Geddes's body was discovered at her home in Panbride Road in Carnoustie, Angus, on Sunday 7 February. Her husband, Roger Geddes, 61, has been charged with her murder.

The 63-year-old had previously been head of midwifery at St James's Hospital in Leeds. She had also worked in Glasgow and Edinburgh before she retired.

Her daughter, Angela Geddes, told mourners at Carnoustie Church: "I have lost my greatest friend, my best adviser, my biggest motivator, my number-one. I could rely on my mum no matter what.

"I stand here with a heavy heart, but I am uplifted by the number of people who have come today as a mark of respect to my mum, to celebrate her life and to offer support to our family."

Mrs Geddes was a member of Carnoustie Golf Club, which lowered its flag to half-mast as a mark of respect, and was a member of the flower committee at Carnoustie Church, where her funeral was held yesterday.
