Labour councillor Andrew Burns complained that city officials began the 90-day consultation over pay changes without consulting members, as agreed.
Burns and his Labour colleagues seemed happy to frequently breach the trust of Edinburgh residents over many years in planning matters, the Trams etc etc.

Astounded of Edinburgh, but not that surprised
Perhaps if the top councillors were to take a pay cut first, it would show everyone else, they are serious about saving money!

Anybody earning less than 25,000 should be left alone, all other council employees to 50,000 a 5 per cent cut and over 50,000 a 10 per cent cut in salary and a five-year wage freeze, the public sector must play its part fighting recession.

Pay cuts at the top? Start holding your breath now. Then go to Portobello, where a hovercraft across the Forth may be based.
Wonderful news, I was on the trial runs and they were first class, just think of the revenue for Porty and others.
The Real Alfonsa Pedrosa
Good idea with typically poor implementation plans. It'll take way too long to build a couple of terminals and ramps and Portobello is a ridiculous destination.

The trial was very busy but I suspect like me many went on it for the novelty. Anything that helps clear the bridge of traffic is welcome.
Dragonlord
This is a gimmick rather than a serious transport solution. Although I have a bus pass I think it's ridiculous that I could use it to travel on the hovercraft. It will simply become a wee jaunt for the blue-rinse brigade and all their jaunts will be chargeable to the council.

r chee bold,
Apparently it takes more than a pair of rare sea tornadoes on the Forth to impress our webheads
These waterspouts are not dangerous, it's Brian Souter clearing the way for his hovercrafts.

Snow, freezing temperatures, water spouts, it's the end of days …

Nothing new! Many years ago we experienced these whilst fishing near Coulport on the Clyde.
Dragonlord
Had the waterspouts hit the Fife coastal area, it is estimated that 10 million of improvements would have been done.

As I was quickly scanning down the headlines, I misread this one as "Rare sea tomatoes pictured on Forth".

'Quickly scanning'? Tut. Finally, professional unicyclist Jason Auld can't train because of the snow. So readers, was one wheelie sympathetic?

Hide AdA "professional unicyclist"? I suggest getting a proper job. Or, if you are really a professional, start paying for practice space as a legitimate business expense.
