Scotsman Archive: Scots Exhibition Publicity

THE world-wide publicity being undertaken to attract visitors to the Scottish Industries Exhibition in the Kelvin Hall, Glasgow, in September, was outlined yesterday by Mr W. A. Nicholson, manager of the Scottish Tourist Board.

Mr Nicholson, who was speaking at the Publicity Club of Glasgow, said the exhibition would certainly be the greatest show of its kind ever staged indoors in Scotland. The Enterprise (Scotland ) Exhibition in Edinburgh two years ago was a "shop window" but the Glasgow show, he said, would be the shop itself, and visitors would be able to buy what they saw. Exhibition posters with the symbol of the Lion Rampant turning the wheels of Scottish industry would be seen by millions of people on at least 500 air stations throughout the world. They would be displayed on air stations from London to Baghdad, throughout Europe America, South Africa, Australia and in Britain. With the posters had gone out hundreds of thousands of brochures, inviting visitors and particularly buyers.
