Talk of the Town: Here's the place if you've a tale to tell

MEETINGS of a city storytelling club are a lively affair if a headline promoting their latest session is anything to go by.

People are being urged to "drop into the Waverley Bar on St Mary's Street and find a jovial gathering of storytellers, singers and listeners enjoying many a tale and tune along with their pints at Guid Crack, Edinburgh's monthly storytelling club" next Friday.

The headline . . . "A bit of crack".

What happens if those on booze want to use loos?

WITH the future of the city's public loos looking increasingly uncertain, the council's new 'toilet map' could become an unlikely opportunity for pubs and cafes in the city centre.

Around 70 premises will soon receive documentation provisionally looking for takers for the unusual scheme, which would add the names of those businesses to a map given to tourists outlining those willing to allow the free use of their loos.

It was met with derision when the Evening News contacted almost all traders on the Royal Mile last year, but now some believe being on the map could give participants an edge over competitors.

Although, one source said: "It's a risky business though. Just think what'll happen when the jakies get hold of it."

Totally spiffing

THE royal couple will no doubt be toasting their wedding with the finest champagne, but Edinburgh revellers keen to celebrate the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton will have something almost equally good - free ginger beer.

John Crabbie's, the Scottish master of all things ginger and maker of the popular Crabbie's Alcoholic Ginger Beer, will be giving away free samples of its new soft drink on the day of the royal wedding in Festival Square.

In celebration of Kate and William's nuptials, sampling staff will be out and about by the big screen between 10am-2pm offering refreshments.

SuBo's candle for Cowell

YOU know you've made it when you get your own waxwork.

Singing sensation Susan Boyle came face to face with herself when her 150,000 wax counterpart was unveiled at Madame Tussauds in Blackpool.

The Britain's Got Talent star said: "What can you say? They have done a very good job. It feels fantastic. It was such a great process to be involved in and it looks very realistic."

And which figure does she want to stand next to her waxwork - Simon Cowell of course.
