Police appeal over stabbing

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was subjected to a savage assault at a temporary accommodation centre.

The 43-year-old suffered a deep cut to his cheek and a puncture wound to his chest after being slashed and stabbed by the suspect on Saturday night.

The incident took place at the Leith Acorn Centre at around 9.30pm. It is thought the weapon used was a bladed instrument, but not a knife.

A 37-year-old man was also assaulted but only suffered a minor cut to his arm.

The suspect is described as male, white, 40 years old with a bald head. He was wearing a blue/green waterproof jacket.

A spokesman urged anyone with information that could assist with enquiries to contact police on 0131-311 3131.
