Regular drinking habit comes with age
Some 13 per cent of adults over 45 drink almost every day compared with 4 per cent of those under 45, Office for National Statistics’ data shows.
And as people get older they tend to drink more – with over a fifth of men aged 65 and over drinking almost every day compared with just 3 per cent of men aged 16 to 24.

Hide AdAmong women, 12 per cent of over-65s consume alcohol almost every day compared with just 1 per cent of 16 to 24-year-olds.
However, the survey, of more than 13,000 adults in 2010, found younger people were more likely to binge drink.
