Woman who harrassed RBS boss Stephen Hester makes court appearance

A woman accused of harassing the chief executive of RBS appeared in court today.

• Ruby Cooper is alleged to have sent an email in breach of a restraining order dating back to November 2000 preventing her from contacting employees of RBS or NatWest

• Ms Cooper was granted bail on the condition she didn’t use the internet or possess any item capable of accessing it

Ruby Cooper, 52, allegedly sent an email to Stephen Hester on 5 November in breach of a restraining order which prevented her from contacting any employee of NatWest or the Royal Bank of Scotland.

The order was originally made in November 2000 at Blackfriars Crown Court.

Cooper, who obtained a psychology degree at Stirling University, Scotland, was granted bail on condition that she should not use the internet or possess any item capable of accessing it.

The defendant, who repeatedly interrupted proceedings, was told by District Judge Elizabeth Roscoe to let her lawyer speak for her.

She is due back in Westminster Magistrates’ Court on December 20 for a committal hearing.
