THE man convicted of the Lockerbie bombing has expressed "sympathy" for the "pain" of the 270 victims and protested his innocence in a secret telephone call to a TV station from his prison cell, it was reported today.
Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi, the Libyan serving a life sentence for the 1988 bombing, spoke to the Arab TV network Al Jazeera from a telephone inside Greenock Prison. The interview, in Arabic, was broadcast to millions of viewers in the Middle E
ast.

Relatives of the victims yesterday described his offer of sympathy as "nauseating" and "detestable".

Megrahi, 56, is appealing against his conviction for the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103.

It was reported he took part in a popular current affairs programme, Ma Wara al-Khabar (Behind The News), speaking to Sa'd Jabbar, a Moroccan lawyer and Middle East expert based in London, who was a guest on the programme, for several minutes on a "crackly" telephone line.

Jabbar was last night quoted as saying: "Megrahi was talking in general about himself, about the tragedy and his own tragedy of injustice. He said he has sympathy for the families of the victims and swore he didn't do it.

"He was very firm. He said 'I'm innocent, I understand the pain of the victims'. He was very articulate, better than any other participant."

The bomber also praised Scottish legal experts who are working to overturn his conviction.

Former Washington diplomat David Mack and Megrahi's former lawyer Ibrahim Legwell also took part in the show, which was broadcast from Al Jazeera's headquarters in Doha, Qatar, on August 29.

The programme came just days after Saif al-Islam al-Gaddafi, the son of the Libyan leader, described the Lockerbie victims' families as "greedy".

Last night Susan Cohen, from New York, who lost her only daughter Theo in the disaster, said it was "unbelievable" that Megrahi should be able to speak on television from prison.

She was reported as saying: "As a mother sitting here facing my daughter's birthday on September 10, I'd like to throw his words right back at him. For him to express his sympathy is detestable. It is a bit late for sympathy now."

A Scottish Prison Service spokesman confirmed that Megrahi had not received permission to contact the programme. Although he made several calls from the telephone in his prison wing on August 29, records show these were all to "local numbers".

Introduction:

UN- Press Release 09.09.2003
SC/7866
Security Council
4820th Meeting (PM)

Text excerpt:
Speaking before that decision was taken, the Council President, Emyr Jones Parry (United Kingdom), said that the bombing of Pan Am flight 103 had been an appalling act, which caused terrible pain to the friends and families of the victims, many of whom were present in the Council chamber today.

The Council was now moving towards resolution of that terrible affair, he continued. Libya had accepted responsibility for the actions of its officials, renounced terrorism and arranged for payment of appropriate compensation for the families of the victims.

It had also expressed its commitment to cooperate with any further requests for information in connection with the investigation. All those were substantial gains, which could allow Libya to move back into the international community and bring the Council closer to lifting the sanctions.

Letter dated 15 August 2003 from the Chargé d’affaires a.i. of the Permanent Mission of the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya to the United Nations addressed to the President of the Security Council.

In a context and out of respect for international law and pursuant to the Security Council resolutions, Libya as a sovereign State:

Text excerpt:

• Has cooperated with the Scottish investigating authorities before and to cooperate in good faith with any further requests for information in connection with the Pan Am 103 investigation during the trial and pledges. Such cooperation would be extended in good faith through the usual channels.

• Has facilitated the bringing to justice of the two suspects charged with the bombing of Pan Am 103 and accepts responsibility for the actions of its officials.

• Has arranged for the payment of appropriate compensation. To that end, a special fund has been established and instructions have already been issued to transmit the necessary sums to an agreed escrow account within a matter of days.

August 2008: Saif El Islam Gadaffi say: "We 'played with words' to stop Lockerbie sanctions."

Son of Libyan leader Moamer Gaddafi said that the Libyan government had only claimed responsibility for the Lockerbie bombing in order to normalize ties with the West and get international sanctions lifted. "Yes, we wrote a letter to the Security Council saying we are responsible for the acts of our employees... but it doesn't mean that we did it in fact," Saif al-Islam Gaddafi said in an interview to be broadcast Sunday by the British Broadcasting Corporation.

"I admit that we played with words - we had to. What can you do? Without writing that letter we would not be able to get rid of sanctions," said Saif al-Islam, who took a central role in the talks to end Libya's isolation.

Saif el Islam say: "I think they (the families) were very greedy and they were trading with the blood of their sons and daughters," he said.
"The position with them, it was very terrible and it was very materialistic and it was very greedy and they were asking for money and more money and more money and more money.
"And they were talking just about money. Money money money money."

Why Libya pays?:

After an extensive FBI investigation, Libyan intelligence officer Abdelbaset Al Megrahi and Khalifa Fhima was eventually handed over by Libya to stand trial under Scottish law in a third country - the Netherlands, (Kamp van Zeist)
Co-accused Khalifa Fhimah was acquitted while Al Megrahi was found guilty on Jannuary 31, 2001, of mass murder (270 killed) and is serving a life sentence

>>>(27 years) in Greenock prison at Glasgow in Scotland. Mr Megrahi and protests till today his innocence.

The black mailing compensation from Libya:

Libya have to pay up to US$2.7 billion to settle the doubtfull claims by the families of the 270 killed in the Lockerbie bombing, representing US$10 million per family. The Libyan offer was that:
40% of the money would be released when United Nations sanctions, suspended in 1999, were cancelled;
another 40% when U.S. trade sanctions were lifted; and
the final 20% when the U.S. State Department removed Libya from its list of states sponsoring terrorism.

The truth is, Libya pays under blackmail only for:

> to move back into the international community and bring the UN Council
closer to lifting the sanctions.

> Regain full diplomatic and economic status. This would allow US oil
companies to negotiate hundreds of billions of dollars worth of
contracts, to drill the state's oilfields.

The evidence was controversial and many people - including some relatives of Lockerbie victims - felt Al Megrahi didn't get a fair trial. Last year the Scottish Criminal Cases Review Commission (SCCRC) concluded that the Libyan may have suffered a miscarriage of justice and granted him a second appeal against his conviction,

After clear discharge proves is clear for Edwin Bollier, MEBO Ltd in Switzerland, Libya and his official Abdelbaset Al Megrahi were deliberately entangled with the bombing of PanAm 103 by the manipulated piece of evidence MST-13 timer fragment (PT-35B).
No doubt, Libya and Mr Megrahi have nothing to do with the Lockerbie-Tragedy!

Also the Scottish police had information that might have changed the outcome of the Lockerbie bombing trial, a BBC TV programme has learned.
The information could have affected the credibility of key evidence, the manipulated MEBO MST-13 Timer-Fragment, was not from a timer delivered to Libya! The most logical possibility is that the bombing-st

>>> bombing-story 'PanAm-103' was specifically constructed to blame Libya.

The truth will confirm it on, the official Libya's, Mr Abdelbaset Al Megrahi, was the victims no.271 in the 'Lockerbie Affair'...

Very little has been said about the suffering of the Libyan people during the years of sanctions. How many died because of lack of medical supplies or hospital equipment?
+++

Some of the Lockerbie victims Families (PanAm 103 aircrash)
say the cordial and truth words:

It is to be believed absolutely that all relatives of the victims of Flight PanAm-103 would gladly repay any 'compensation' money from Libya if he could just have our loved ones back.

To the memory:

The trial under Scottish law, the accused Mr Al Megrahi was found guilty on Jannuary 31, 2001, of mass murder (270 killed) and is serving a life sentence (27 years) in Greenock prison at Glasgow in Scotland. Mr Megrahi and protests till today his innocence.

The Scottish judicial review commission (SCCRC) came across important relieve-evidence (some that was available to prosecutors but not the defense during Megrahi's trial) suggesting that the Libyan was framed and the the legal judgement was in all probability a miscariage of justice!

Entitled question for the Lockerbie victims Families group (PanAm 103 aircrash)?:

Which will happened with the 'compensation' money of US$ 2,7 billion from Libya Foundation, if Mr Abdelbaset Al Megrahi, of the same Scottish jurisdiction, as innocent revived?
I believe that the entire world population then expected, that then the unauthorized received 'compensation' will pay back to the Gaddafi International Charity and Development Foundation, Saif el Islam Gaddafi.
The reproach would be then incorrect that the survivors are greedy and have required on the back of their victims blood money.

Further evidences was tampered with to implicate Libya in the PanAm-103 bomb plot.

Why was the piece of paper so altered from the original Toshiba Radio manual, when the Hortons found it? Was it proof of a conspiracy?
Answer from MEBO Ltd:
Why to witness Decky Horten at the court in Kamp van Zeist were shown as evidence only some paper fragments of a Toshiba radio recorder manual, RT-8016-SF16 BomBeat? There is a logical explanation.

These paper fragments, did not descend from the Toshiba manual found by Decky Horton in Lockerbie; why?
The Toshiba manual found by Decky Horten was not belonging to a Toshiba radiorecorder type ever supplied to Libya by Toshiba!
The Toshiba manual found by Goeff and Decky Horton was undestroyed and was found together with a radio recorder fragment (AG/145). This proves that these fragment did not originate from an explosion, but were placed there deliberately with other pieces of evidence (PT-35; a;b;c;d)! This explains also why the fragment (AG/145) was never been tested for explosive residues by Dr. Hayes!
Thus was clear, in order to entangle Libya into the PanAm-103 assassination attempt, as proof, paper fragments of a Toshiba radio recorder manual were used, which descended from a Toshiba equipment delivered to Libya. more on: www.lockerbie.ch

I am unable to extrapolate a grain of sense from the convoluted posts above (#1-#7). What really concerns me is that a convicted murderer is able make "a secret telephone call to a TV station from his (Scottish) prison cell."

Answers, people in authority?

It is surely appalling that a convicted mass murderer should be given the oxygen of publicity from his jail cell. I don't believe for one minute the prison authorities did not know about this. They are dragging our penal system through the mud in order to appease mass murderers and their apologists. Totally, unacceptable there should be an inquiry into this.My sympathies lie with the relatives of the victims.

Which role played ex FBI Special Agent Richard Marquise
in the "Lockerbie-Affair"?
The ex "Special" Agent of the FBI and chief Task Force in the "Lockerbie-Case", Mr Marquise, exposed himself with his own justifications! Was he possibly the central organization-figure in the conspiracy against Libya in the Lockerbie-Affair in which he positions himself now protecting before his employees at that time, as for example, to the questionable FBI experts Tomas Thurman?
In his new doc.-book, Scotbom: Evidence and the Lockerbie Investigation, leads to this acceptance! Mr. Richard A. Marquise, confirm the defence evidence for Libya!
He confirm in his book 'Scotbom', that the PT-35 = (MST-13) timer fragment descended of the first handfabricated prototype series of 1985!

Original excerpt, under Chapter 11:
After Lumpert's statement, Lumpert (ex Engeneer, at MEBO Ltd) was the first witness and after examining a photograph the PT-35, (MST-13 Fragment) testified the chip had come from a circuit board for a timer he designed and built in 1985 at the request of Bollier. ----------- He had learned one week prior to the hearing that this timer might have been used in a bomb.

He believed the chip had come from one of the first timers made. He detailed how he had designed this circuit board, nothing the slight imperfections on
PT-35.
Way have ex FBI Special Agent Marquise, suppress this decisive determining proof from the court in Kamp van Zeist? I am convinced, its status function in the "Lockerbie Fraud" is unmasked? Hello, to the memory: The MST-13 timer supplied to Libya was not prototypes of first series!

Mr Megrahi's conviction is possibly a miscarriage of justice. Framed, I reckon. Send one suspect away and let the other go? How conveniently neat.

The whole affair at Camp Zeist brought our system into disrepute.

The next thing these confused revisionists will be telling us, is that Hitler, Pol Pot and Milosevic were also innocent of their crimes, and that the overwhelming evidence against them was fabricated?

Its the equivalent of Hitler sitting in his bunker broadcasting to his people that he was fitted up and knew absolutely nothing about the extermination of 6 million Jews!

Has it never occurred to them that the US always planned to muddy the waters so that it could
neutralise Ghaddafi?

#8 Fanling's concern about the use of phones by the convicted is a little tardy. Certainly the Bar L (Barlinnie to the law-abiding) has made phones available to inmates for decades.

The celebrated 'sculptor' 'Champagne importer' and convicted murderer Jimmy Boyle was easily contactible via the payphone installed in the Special Unit - helpful when he was co-authoring an autobiography and stage play with playright Tom McGrath.
