'It would ruin the Scottish League', "Create a British Cup instead," 'Take them': Fans react to Rangers and Celtic potential invite to British League
Opinion is split amongst football fans whether a move to join 16 other clubs in a cross-border competition is the right one – but there DID appear to be an appetite for some form of British competition.
While many supporters were divided on the idea itself, and the sustainability, several suggested a cup competition could generate some additional interest in the game without hampering the current league systems.

@chris__bfc: “I'd back a British cup, adding Scottish and Welsh clubs to the League Cup would be great, although I can see why a Southampton fan wouldn't want to go Aberdeen away. But there's no point revamping the league, it's perfect as is (apart from the imbalance of wealth).”
@NakedFarang: “I'm clearly in a minority, but I'd be all for a British League, not just Rangers and Celtic but combine the two systems with regional leagues lower down. They should probably start with a British Cup for a season or two first, replacing the English and Scottish League Cups.”
Patrick Roberts: “If they're planning a 'British League' then Hibs should be at that party.”
@sport73: “Anyone that was against a European Super League couldn't possibly want a British Super league that would just be hypocritical.”
There were other alternatives suggested too.
@MillieQED: “British Super League? No, if you're going to do this, let's have a proper UEFA League sitting above the current national structures with promotion and relegation. NFL-style regional divisions and playoffs. If the Soviet Union pulled it off, I'm sure the ESL galaxy brains can.”
@BobK3: “British Super League! If the (silly) Old Firm did join the Premiership, expect Scottish League Football to fade and disappear. Celtic and Rangers in the Premiership, I would give them one season before relegation. This scheme is utter twaddle. I do not envisage it happening.”
@Hyperion1872: “Don't know the script is about a British Super League, but if the Old Firm played in the PL, they'd be challenging for the title after a few seasons of crazy money. We'd also be able to challenge for the CL.”

Peter Keenan: “Take them. Would be doing us a favour.”
Bryan O'Cíanáin: “Don’t let the door hit ye on the way out...”
Mikey Glen: “Happy days! Might encourage folk to support their local team.”
The subject has developed from the failed European Super League plans with the ‘Big Six’ in England keen for league reform which could include an invite to the Glasgow clubs to join an 18-team competition, plus other alterations to the competitions.
