“It could be a great league next season with the teams who will potentially be in it.” (Record)
Hearts want transfer embargo lifted
HEARTS will once again attempt to have their transfer embargo lifted at an SPFL board meeting later today.
The embattled club, in administration and 20 points adrift at the foot of the Premiership, will look to the league to allow a ‘one-in, one-out’ policy to prevent their already-thin squad being further weakened.
Hearts are also expected to ask for dispensation to sign free agents, pending the end of a registration ban in February. (Scotsman)

McNamara: ‘GMS punished for honesty’
GARY Mackay-Steven would have won Dundee United a penalty if he had thrown himself to the floor under an Inverness challenge, according to United boss Jackie McNamara.
McNamara said: “It shows, if anything, we are sometimes not experienced or streetwise enough in certain situations.
“I look at (Thistle’s) penalty, then look at our claim when there is contact. I think if Gaz goes down, it’s a penalty, but he is trying to carry it through and score.” (Mail)
Celtic can go unbeaten, says McCarthy
FORMER South Africa striker Benni McCarthy believes that Celtic can make it through the entire Premiership season unbeaten.
McCarthy, who is being mentored at Celtic as he carries out his coaching training, said: “Celtic are an unbelievable club. The stadium on a match day has the best atmosphere in the world.
“They have what it takes to go the season undefeated. They are a level above everybody.” (Sun)
