Old Firm will not be invited to join English Football League

The Old Firm have long been linked with a move south of the border as the revenue gap continues to increase between Scotland and England.
It was suggested a route could become available when the EFL expands to five divisions of 20 teams prior to the 2019-20 season, which would open up space for eight additional clubs to join.

Hide AdEFL chief executive Shaun Harvey stated late last month that it would be up to the clubs whether any non-English teams were invited to join the new “fifth division”.
There was also speculation that English Premier League B teams could be included.
These suggestions have been firmly dismissed by the EFL who ruled out including Premier League B teams and “clubs from non-English leagues” in its plans for a new league structure.
