Scotland U19s 4-0 Armenia U19s: Wee Scots put Armenia to the sword

A FOUR-GOAL second half performance enabled Scotland’s Under-19s to move into pole position in their qualifying group for the Elite Round of matches in the build-up to the Uefa finals in Lithuania next summer.

Visiting goalkeeper Gevorg Harutyunyan denied John
Herron before producing a fine double save to foil Islam Feruz. Harutyunyan was beaten on 33 minutes by a fierce drive from Feruz, however the bar came to his rescue.

Scotland made the breakthrough four minutes after the restart from a free-kick 25 yards out when Joe Chalmers touched the ball to John Herron and when it was received back it was curled high into the net.

It was two seven minutes later when Feruz crossed from the right and Matthew Kennedy arrived at the back post to side-foot home. Barrie McKay sent a low home drive from 18 yards to make it three on 66 minutes, and two minutes later his Ibrox team-mate Lewis MacLeod lashed home from close range

In the other game in Scotland’s group, Romania and Switzerland drew 1-1 at the Falkirk Stadium.
