The rout began after 17 minutes when Peter Lorimer launched a typical piledriver which the Danish goalkeeper tipped over the bar. Lorimer himself fired over a low corner and Lou Macari dipped his head to score from close range. Two minutes later, a George Graham shot was only partially cleared and Jimmy Bone was on hand to convert the rebound. Finn Laudrup pulled one back with a free kick into Bobby Clark’s top right-hand corner, but a scintillating Scottish move restored the two-goal lead in 66 minutes when Willie Morgan (above) went on a dribble, fed Macari, and his cheeky backheel was smashed into the roof of the net by Joe Harper. Morgan completed the demolition a minute later with a header from Lorimer’s cross.
