France sell-out expected

NEXT week’s Calcutta Cup match at the 67,130-capacity Murrayfield Stadium sold out two months ago, and hopes are high at the Scottish Rugby Union that the ‘full house’ signs will be up again later in the month after the ticket office reported sales of over 60,000 already for Scotland’s other home match in this year’s RBS Six Nations Championship, against France on Sunday, 26 February.

Demand has been high for the fixture featuring the Rugby World Cup runners-up, with sales significantly beyond the level they have reached at the same stage in previous years. With a month to go before the match takes place, the attendance looks sure to exceed the 61,584 figure when France last visited Murrayfield two years ago, a game that also took place on a Sunday and which marked Andy Robinson’s first RBS Six Nations fixture as Scotland coach.

Ticket prices are £35, £50 and £75 for adults, and £17.50, £25 and £37.50 for students and under 18s.

The reintroduction of the car park behind the West Stand at Murrayfield – closed in recent years but brought back by the new administration at the SRU following demand from disgruntled supporters – has proved popular, but there are a still places available for both the England and the France matches. The cost is £25 per car, and includes back-pitch entertainment around the all-weather synthetic pitch.
