Hibs: The final Answer

WE asked the fans if they think Hibs can maintain a challenge for second place...

Chris Strachan, Fairmilehead: "On paper, there's no reason why we can't keep up the challenge, we've got a starting eleven that is as good as Celtic but, unfortunately, if we do lose a couple of players we've not got the quality in reserve to bring into the squad. I'd be quite happy to settle for third."

Chris Harrison, Wentworth: "If we can maintain our good home form and pick up points on the road we have a good chance splitting the Old Firm this year. If we do split them, though, I don't want to see us go down the same road as Hearts when the following season they sold all their good players."

Ross McCabe, Mountcastle: "If we don't make stupid mistakes and Yogi can keep the squad in a buoyant mood then why not, Celtic have shown against us and Falkirk that they are far from invincible and, if we can play every game in a professional manner and are lucky with injuries and suspensions, then why not?"

Gav Hughes, Newhaven: "The target is third place. We beat a poor Celtic team on the night but Yogi is correct to state that third place is our target and, if we achieve that against a physical Dundee United, then the season will be deemed a success. On the other hand, I would swap third or even second place if we could lift the Scottish Cup in May."

Philip Aitken, Sighthill: "We are getting ahead of ourselves. We have short memories. We must remember the performances we gave at Tannadice and at home against Rangers and Hearts. We should never have games like that again but it's consistency that is our downfall and always has been so third is the best we will achieve this season."

Ian Bell, Dunfermline: "I would rather have the Scottish Cup than second place in the league if I had to choose, but if I could get both I would be more than delighted. The runners-up in the SPL have to play a few pre-qualifying games for the Champions League and, as much as I love Hibs, I can't see us achieving that. Celtic versus Arsenal last season is an example of the quality of the opposition, so it's the Cup for me, please, and straight in to the Europa Cup in September after a third-place finish."
