McDowell and Brodie are young masters

SCOTTISH JUNIOR MASTERS: Liam McDowell (Wigtownshire County) and Kirsty Brodie (Strathmore) claimed the spoils in the season-ending junior event over the Queen’s Course at Gleneagles.

McDowell, a 28-handicapper, amassed 36 points to secure the boys’ title in the Highland Spring-sponsored tournament.

Coming up just short in a closely-contested event were Michael Brodie (Strathmore), Calum Taggart (Eastwood), Lee McKenzie (Bonar Bridge/Ardgay), Cameron Black (Cardross), Cameron Grant (Loch Ness), Euan McIntosh (Murrayfield) and Callum Jackson (Gogarburn). Brodie, who was playing off 13, scored an impressive 40 points as she claimed the girls’ title by three points from Jemma Brown (St Regulus), with another Fifer, Alexandra Mennie of Elie & Earlsferry Ladies, third on 36.
