Witteveen mulls Hearts exit strategy

HEARTS striker David Witteveen has begun negotiating his exit from Tynecastle and is in discussions with Major League Soccer officials about a potential move to the United States.

MLS are currently recruiting new players for next season's campaign, which begins in March. The league operates a system where the governing body signs new recruits and then allocates them a club. Witteveen is open to the idea of moving to the USA after completing a short-term loan at First Division Dundee. His Hearts contract is due to expire at the end of the season but representatives of the player are exploring whether that could be terminated early to allow him to move.

"David has left Dundee and we will decide if he stays with Hearts or not. Everything is possible. He also has a chance to play in the USA so we will see what happens" said Christoph Wortmann, Witteveen's agent.

Witteveen joined Hearts in July 2009. He was loaned to Morton last March and agreed another temporary move to Dundee in August in the hope of securing regular first-team football. However he appeared only five times for the Tayside club.

Meanwhile, tickets for Hearts' Scottish Cup fourth-round tie with St Johnstone at Tynecastle this Sunday are now on sale. The stadium's Wheatfield Stand will be closed for the match, which kicks off at 2pm, after a dispute between the clubs over admission prices. However, the Gorgie, Roseburn and Main stands will remain open.

Tickets are priced at 16-22 for adults with concessions 14-7. They are available via the club's official website, by calling 0871 663 1874 (option 1), and by visiting the Tynecastle ticket centre of any of the Hearts stores.
