Flash floods

RAIL disruption continued yesterday after heavy storms caused flash floods in parts of Glasgow. Trains to and from Edinburgh were operating on a reduced frequency and services to Aberdeen were also affected.
Firefighters had to work around the clock after they received more than 30 calls for help in just thee hours on Friday night into yesterday morning.
The south side of the city - including Shawlands, Clarkston, Langside, Battlefield and Polmadie - was worst affected. But there were also problems in the Springburn, Calton and Yorkhill areas.
In one incident, firefighters had to pump out water that had been threatening an electricity sub-station in Langside.
First ScotRail said problems were also continuing on the line between Partick and Larkhall.
Forecasters are warning of more flooding, with heavy rain set to cause problems in already sodden areas.
The Met Office warned that as much as 60 to 80mm of rain could fall across southern and eastern areas of the UK this afternoon and tomorrow.
