JUST when it seemed summer couldn't get any worse, the Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for Tuesday and Wednesday, with predictions of gale-force winds and even more torrential rain.
The whole of the west coast of Britain is expected to face another battle with the elements this week.

A spokeswoman for the Met Office said: "We have issued a severe weather warning for Tuesday and Wednesday, with severe gales and heavy rain.

"The south and western coastal regions will see the strongest winds, with severe gales and gusts of up to 60 to 70mph."

She continued: "The strongest winds will be accompanied by periods of heavy rain, giving 20 to 30cms in some places and up to 50cms in the western areas.

"Predicted wind speeds could lead to minor damage in exposed places, and combined with heavy rain could cause disruption to outdoor activities."

Last month, the Met Office spokesman had said the indications were that a sunny August would put an end to a summer of misery.

Quite, Mart. 50cms of rain is nearly 2 feet. Who edits this website?
