Published Date: 12 November 2006
VANDALS have defaced a war memorial with Nazi swastikas and daubed a nearby home and shop with anti-Semitic graffiti.
Police were called to the memorial in Chapel Road, Worthing, West Sussex, at about 6.30am yesterday.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: "This is offensive and racist graffiti. We're not talking about somebody writing with a pen. It's fairly large-scale."

Who ever they are I hope they catch them and turn them over to the locals who should stone them out of town. If it wasnt for those whos names are on that memorial they wouldt be able to carryout such acts.

Stoning them out of town would be far too kind!

It is is sign of the times and one that does not unduly upset me. I am developing the view that remembrances of past wars is being overdone and as the consequence, creating in its wake a detestation for all that is military history. WW1 was the British holocaust when thousands were sent to their inevitable death daily by the ignorance and arrogance of four generals none of whom visited the front-line and remembrance day reminds one of those inhumane acts (and many others too). We British are good at making success from disasters. In today's society such events should be toned-down to take a minor place to what else is happening in today's world. We have to allow each generation to make its own world without force-feeding them with what Grampa did as a young man.

Perhaps it is being overdone, but saying it doesnt bother u, is very sad.I am sure if u were Jewish it would!I am not & it does! It is to deny,or think the deaths of so many people is ok, as its "in the past" Strange thinking indeed.

While jews were busy making some demonstation in Berlin about a Kristallnach.. Jews in Israel were busy using their tanks to kill 18 unarmed civilians many children amongst them...Will Palestinians be allowed to remeber their Kristallnach or have they go too many days of "Accidents by IDF" that they cant fit them all in.

and the Memorial with the swastikas... maybe the protest was focussed on that.

http://www.ifamericansknew.org/... Hopefully no one will be offended by my little burst of Antisemitism... afterall : to critisise a jews or Israeli policicy is nomally refered to as Antisemitism. I enclose this rather informative site for your perusal.

Well Ricardo, decry the sacrificies of our forefathers
all you will, had it not been for what they did there would be no Israel for you to criticise, and no Jewish businesses for ignorant thoughtless yobs to Daub.
The world is at war again because we have tried to appease the ignorant, tyrants for too long. Even assisting some in gaining power, Now while I hold the view that violence begets Violence ther are some situations where it is unavoidable. Your ignorant little monologue dishonours the memory of those selfless heroes who bought us our freedom to criticise them and all else we know little about.
Sleep well tonight in your worm comfortable bed, as they do in their graves.

Today's Vote

Is the government right to continue with its policy of cutting down quangos?
No, I think their independence means we get a better job
Yes, they are unaccountable and expensive
Only if their work is duplicated or plainly redundant
